Lol. Lol.
Testing some games for the PCGW list and Killer is Dead might have my favourite issue I’ve seen in a game when SK is injected
The gimbal lock or the stop motion animation? Both are amusing.
The animation amused me enough, but then the camera going wild on top of it all was so good
I’m a programmer, and even I find this message a bunch of meaningless words strung together
Version control was so much simpler when I first got into open source programming, cvs (no, not the store) didn’t give indecipherable errors like this. I think they do this to sell books, cause that’s the only way I’m going to figure out WTF is wrong with SK’s respository.

Yippie, another useless error.
Finally…

Let’s just consider the Special K repository on gitlab.com permanently broken; don’t use it. I’ll keep it around for people who permalinked to it in the past, but it’s inoperable.
So I found a few things that made my HDR freak out. One BPM seems to load up when I use HDR and so it messes with steam. So I either had to launch game in BPM Steam or what I found helpful was disable BPM overlay in launch part of game. That seemed to do the trick. Now the game properly uses and detects HDR like it should. Without really having to alt tab or switch from borderless to Fullscreen. On other side note it does seem to now think my monitor id’s are switched. So it has them reversed for some reason. Which is quite amusing. I am right now in middle of upgrading Win10 to 2004 Build. So hopefully that might iron out some issues as well.
I learned that someone was using that instead of 1909 or maybe majority was and HDR was working better in their cases.
That was a famous glitch in Witcher 1 before new fixed version came out lol.
It seems that all file links points to http://li933-243.members.linode.com/ and not http://gitlab.special-k.info/. Can you go through the GitLab config and ensure that the correct domain is properly defined?
Examples abound on http://gitlab.special-k.info/Kaldaien/SpecialK – basically all files there points to the linode link.
I’ve added the Steam changelogs to the changelog file as well, but the merge request needs to be approved http://gitlab.special-k.info/Kaldaien/SpecialK/-/merge_requests/1
I changed the reverse DNS entry for that IP, it should propagate within 24 hours.
I am still blown away by how cheaply you can get a static IP address with full control over reverse DNS That cost a fortune 20 years ago, and back then there weren’t as many devices gobbling up all IPv4 IPs as there are now.
Enabled SSL encryption while I was poking around in GitLab config as well https://gitlab.special-k.info is functional now.
I guess if a firmware upgrade suddenly introduces ads to the router config, I should count my blessings they’re all from the company that mfg’s the router?
Trying to find a positive spin, but it’s really difficult - lol.
I try to buy my games from GOG when I can. I try to reward no drum especially when it is newer games. I like their platform much better than say Epic. Steam has a monopoly on pc gaming and its hard to find other avenues.
I wouldn’t even call what Epic has a platform
I am happy to see EOS (their equivalent to SteamAPI) actually make progress recently, however. Looking over their docs, they kinda just cloned SteamAPI.
Steam is the most common platform, and often only platform a game ships on, but it’s also the most feature rich. If their moderation situation weren’t so ridiculous, I’d probably still be entirely focused on just supporting Steam games. But moderation is terrible, and I want off
It’d take anything over Epic… imagine using Fortnite cash to buy your way onto the market. + that’s not even including the concerns over privacy and even the way they treat indies who don’t accept their contracts.
It feels like Epic’s starting to calm the @#$% down and conduct business more inline with their competition.
We are seeing far fewer of those stupid timed exclusives, and at least they have added stuff to their platform since they first started making games exclusive. That was a real kick in nuts when they had a store with none of the features of their competitors and were securing exclusive rights to games.
They still have very few comparable features, but I think they learned trapping consumers in a store with nothing in it does not make for voluntary repeat customers
Steam is still by my favourite out of the platforms because of all of its features, with GOG 2nd. Obviously there’s stuff Steam could improve on, and I don’t really care for the public forums, though I do prefer them existing over not having any at all.
I only have a problem with Epic because of how they’ve handled the exclusivity stuff, I often see people point to games being exclusive to Steam, but I don’t think they are throwing millions of dollars at people to not be on a rival store.
Honestly I’d rather games be on multiple platforms and have the platforms’ features sway people
According to Tim Sweeney’s rampant ravings on Twitter I would say he is just looking for every opportunity to not play ball. Well tbf he made up his mind years ago, so yeah I made my mind up on Epic as a company ages ago. Every game made on Unreal that isn’t exclusive is a dev I admire. Thank god Stalker 2/GSC got picked up by Microsoft [cause its UE4 now].
