Installation of Special K

Thank you friend, :open_mouth: didnā€™t know that, from now Ill do border-less windowed.

But now that I learn how to install or run the dxvk, I want to try Kaldaien > Special_K_v0.11.0.45_and_SKIF_v0.6.9.

On games that run on Directx 11 :o

Such this one for example Dragon Ball Fighter Z
Right now Iā€™m running with the dxvk

But idk iā€™m just happy to test stuff
this the picture running Dragon Ball Fighter Z, sadly with Torch Light 2 even running dxvk vulkan direct 9 the game didnā€™t improve, still the cpu bottle neck, fps went crazy fom 120-150 to 40 or 13 if to much ongoing ā€¦

PD: Can I run Special K+skif on games that are out of steam? or this is made for steam only?

That looks awful similar to errors from various Steam cracking DLLs.

Iā€™m guessing to be able to run special+skif injector I need to extract the files in a specif folder, right?
like steam Only?

cause Iā€™m facing the same situation than Ahmlet and Zazik, whereas I opened the SKIF.exe and it closes with no message.

I just extracted Special_K_v0.11.0.45_and_SKIF_v0.6.9.zip in a new folder in my desktop then tried Skif.exe as administrator vs no administrator.
0 luck so far, is this made for Steam only?

Edit:
According to this site; Special K - PCGamingWiki PCGW - bugs, fixes, crashes, mods, guides and improvements for every PC game
To be able to run the special k injection manually in non steam games, i just need to extract the zip in game folder, which i did, the injector didnt work until i launch the game minimize, and finally I reached to this place;
I activate the services, and according to that guide in pcgaming wiki i should able to run the control panel while in game by pressing ctrl+shift+backspace but does not work ^^
PD: This is Dragon Ball fighter Z I downloaded via Fitgirlrepack

As im new user i cannot post 2 images in a comment so this is the url>
Screenshot by Lightshot

Edit 2: according to special K injection for non steam games>
says that the directory should not be as '' but ā€˜\ā€™ so if im using a path like ( C:\Games\Dragon Ball FighterZ\RED\Binaries\Win64) it wont work right :O? doesnā€™t make sense for me cause all my path are like C:\ not by \

SKIF 0.6.9 doesnā€™t support running without various Steam files. You will have to use SKIF 0.6.9.2 provided earlier:

For some reason this Skif V 0.6.92 placed with the specialk32.dll or specialk64.dll
or even by not placing the skif 0.6.92 with those dll, finally it detects some of my steam games. but throw a critical error

And second If unzip that special.zip that brings specialk32 and 64.dll +place the skiff 0.6.92 in games out of steam like Dragon Ball Fighter Z from a repack site, it doesnā€™t detect the game. 0 luck with no steam games.

Set XInputPlaceHolders to 0

When the error prompt: First-chance assertion failure, the game close itself.

Upload the logs to the thread

Iā€™m guessing this is the log right?
By the way Kaldaien you and people here are very supportive, Iā€™m so happy to be here (i know this may sound corny or what ever its called in English) but iā€™m so grateful to be here. Really appreciate all your knowledge and help.

PD: Also i realized that for (manual games) that are out of the steam, they recommend the skif v 0692 injector, to be launched and start the global services, and then, go to the path where is the game with their files, check what api use the game, example: if a game use api OpengL , all i need to do is to create a file like;

  • OpenGL: SpecialK.OpenGL32
  • DirectX 11.x: SpecialK.dxgi or SpecialK.d3d11
  • DirectX 9: SpecialK.d3d9

Hmm, SKIF is still crashing on startup for me, even with version 0.6.9.2.

Try 0.6.9.3

Hm. Itā€™s apparently a problem involving ucrtbase.dll somehow? I got this error message from Event Viewer with 0.6.9.3:

I ran sfc /scannow, too, so itā€™s not a problem with the file itself, I shouldnā€™t think.

Do you have the Visual C++ 2019 runtime installed?

Also, try this:

Special K.7z (2.5 MB)

I ought to have Visual C++ 2019; I ran the all-in-one installer linked above.

That one gave a different error:

No idea whatā€™s wrong. SKIF is not complicated enough to need diagnostic logs, so I donā€™t have any setup :-\

Iā€™d try disabling game capture / overlay software (SKIF is a D3D11-based UI, that is mistaken for a game by some software), running it from a different directory, and also making sure you donā€™t have an older version of Special K (e.g. SKIM) active.

The latest bundle for the Visual C runtimes I use is this.

If you just want the 2019ā€™s the source URLā€™s can also be found.

Microsoft also updated the ucrtbase.dll in the current latest .423 cumulative but as a non-security but still recommended optional update it wonā€™t be in the usual release channel and availability should be next Tuesday as part of the monthly cumulative update cycle.

EDIT: That update shouldnā€™t matter too much though, part of it updating a ton of files is also that it serves as the base for 19042 or Windows 10 20H2 with a small enablement package as a opt-in to activate the new features fully.
(It also runs the Edge Chromium installer which is why itā€™s a bit larger compared to 19H2 where said enablement package was just a few KBā€™s of data for activating the new version and features.)

EDIT: And for third party software yeah thereā€™s a bit of a list.

MSI Afterburner and/or Rivatuner for example.
Corsair iCUE along with MSI, Razer, Logitech, Creative and a number of others, Gigabyte and more.

LED, mouse, audio and other software that hooks into the D3D or input APIā€™s in various ways adding to that you also then have recording software or even AMD and NVIDIA driver overlays plus Windows own ā€œGame Barā€ overlay or how itā€™s actually called now.

Most arenā€™t too bad, some are and others well theyā€™re kinda catastrophic when it comes to just their own problems (Gigabyte and their LED software or Corsair and iCUE.) plus co-existing with other overlays or 3D accelerated programs of which thereā€™s usually a fair few running on the system.
(Web browser, system apps for Windows 10 and programs from media players to image or text editors and more.)

Apparently the last thing it does before calling Windows Error Reporting and exiting is load deviceaccess.dll? I tried it with the NVIDIA Overlay disabled and Razer Synapse, MSI Afterburner, and Firefox closed. Still doesnā€™t work.

Iā€™m going to bed for the night, but Iā€™ll try anything posted hence when I wake up tomorrow.

Offtopic or not? any tried with horizon zero dawn, it appears that the port is plagued with bad framepacing

Kal going to be looking into it.

praise be jesus xd
