Topic-Free Mega Thread - v 1.11.2020

Hmm do you think it’s worth me just pasting my original post in the cyberpunk sub?

I don’t care to incite drama, but i also want clarity over the whole thing. I do say this at the end of my post, i’m willing to accept being proven wrong

This find has been taken seriously as a way to improve performance, and i don’t get it. If i’m doing something wrong, please tell me. I’ve tested with the file set to read-only, and the game set to run as administrator. If i am right and this file does absolutely nothing for the game, then i hope we can have clarity over this claim of improved performance.

My post was picking up as well. There are users who believe there’s no difference to be found.

OP who found the fix also said their 1080 ti suddenly managed 1440p locked 60 at the high preset (without AO). Yeah, no, that seems impossible. At least state if you’re using the resolution scale option.

Just ignore it and move on. Only reason it’s still listed on PCGW is because nobody have bothered to prune that article nor demand actual reliable proof of its effectiveness.

Why would you post that in r/nvidia? I know so little about Reddit, but I’m fairly certain something called r/nvidia is for nvidia related things? Or is Reddit just a disorganized chaos of vaguely related things?

That ■■■■■■■ file had a random 1060 Ti user claim they were able to play at 1080p Ultra at 60 FPS, just as an example of the stark placebo we’re talking about.

Like, wat? My 1080 Ti jus barely manages a stable 60 FPS (with drops below it) on DF’s optimized settings at 1080p, and here someone is claiming a GPU with like 30-50% less horse power (or whatever it has) is able of the same?

This is basically it.

This post was allowed on the same sub. Ig the mods didn’t like me for daring to harm the dignity of reddit users.

And i’m banned from the pcgaming sub.

The irony of hearing you say that.

I’m a hated villain on Reddit for some reason, but I’ve got zero bans

Reddit users applauding a user who comes up with an imaginary fix, but attacking a user who actually fixes games… Think that says enough :todd:

Yeah easy fixes and quick solutions I suppose, nice when that works but it very rarely is that easy.

EDIT: Well that and actually challenging some of these supposed fixes and their actual benefits or gains I guess.

Thx! Tried this, putting the dll in the cyberpunk.exe folder. However, Game crashes, starts as bordered and nothing more happens (music plays). Starting theough Steam. Any ideas? Only pasted the .dll file into the folder nothing else…

AMD 20.12.2 RGB.

What a driver.

EDIT: It has RGB though, it’s something. :conwayshrug:

EDIT: Also only for the 6800 and 6900 GPU models.

Amazing next-gen graphics.

This is completely maxed out.

I’m finding a lot of areas like this in the game, where the lighting appears totally broken. This was the site of a side mission, it’s not like I went out of my way to find a broken area.

Game swings wildly from amazing looking, to utter garbage.

This sort of thing actually happens quite often around the streets of the denser parts of the city whenever there’s no direct sunlight.

That kinda stuff is so immersion breaking. Makes me not wanna play the game until they fixed it.

I wish I hadn’t played it all.

I’ve logged a some dozens of hours just running around the city doing side quests, did not touch main story besides the prologue.

Got nothing else to play, I’d have kept busy with the PS5 if it was actually possible to order one…

Did not experience many bugs in the main quest, but more than enough to hold off from touching it further.

Lmfao now i wish that reddit post picked up

Almost 24k users fell for this…

I dare to refute it and my post gets deleted

I ■■■■■■■ love it! Placebo is a god damn pandemic among PC gamers.

I was pretty damn spot on i’d say, from my post:

I assume the file exists in the first place since it was used as a reference during development and was just left in there - that’s my guess anyway.

But nope the file is there so it just must be used in some way :stuck_out_tongue: The game devs can be dumb enough to type the wrong values but not dumb enough to leave an unnecessary file in the game.

I’m going to stop ranting though, hurts my brain trying to comprehend this.

  • Added some warmth to HDR.

Uh oh, time to grab a bunch of screenshots and compare before and after

I accidentally deleted it and the game was working fine without it.

I have fixed HDR screenshots in D3D12:
