Hi @Kaldaien
Because of the DF video, I checked out SpecialK and I’m mad at myself for not having known of it before. I’m a real fan of HDR, and using SK to be able to use HDR with older games is absolutely fantastic.
However, I’ve played around and found a bug in 0.11.1 which is almost a show stopper (or I’m missing sth).
First, my config, which might be a bit special:
I have two monitors:
- Acer Predator X27 (an HDR1000 monitor with FALD) connected over DP
- LG 27UK650 (an HDR400 which I just use to extend the desktop, it’s never used for HDR)
The HDMI connection from the my Gfx Card (a 2080Ti) is actually made to an AV Receiver (a Pioneer VSX-534D) which then connects to the LG monitor. This way I can make use of the full digital HDMI 5.1 channel audio.
On the Windows desktop, HDR is enabled for the Acer only. The HDR image on the LG looks awful, which is why I’d never enable it there.
Now, when I use SK, I can see that SK always uses the values from the LG monitor as reference. In the HDR widget, it shows the name “ACR AVR Receiver” on the right. I.e. it sees the HDMI connection to the AV Receiver (therefore the name) and uses that, instead of my primary monitor, the Acer X27.
Consequently, since the actual image is shown on my Acer, the result is totally off.
The only way I was able to fix this, was to completely disconnect the HDMI cable to the AV Receiver from the gfx card (even turning off the LG and disabling it on the Windows desktop was not enough!). Then, after deleting the SpecialK config in My Mods, it started to work correctly: Now my Acer is shown in the HDR widget, and - oh wonderous miracle - the HDR image shown on the Acer is simply
perfect
So I hope this can be fixed, so I can use Special K and play Code Vein (which is the game I’m targeting right now) without having to unplug my AVReceiver (and losing 5.1 sound because of that).
If there’s any work around, I’d be glad to learn about this, too!
