God knows. It’s too confusing. I give up.
I did try it as well with several compiler versions from the appveyor but there was no real difference in the score for me. As for the hitching/stuttering this seems to be only the first 1 or 2 benchmark runs after that it’s smooth again so you should definitely run it again. It’s probably caching of the shaders from the driver or windows itself or something like that since at least windows 10 builds it’s own dx12 shader cache as far as i know.
I actually had smoother run on my first try on benchmark believe or not. On Ultimate Settings than my 2nd run. Which is quite odd to say the least. That’s what surprised me actually.
Unless it was redoing the cache for lower settings. Which is odd.
This does not surprise me. Usually you won’t see a noticeable difference between a few minor version differences of a specific redistributable packages, and often any change is either placebo or within the margin’s of error.
Uncertainty and confusion surrounds the issues of Horizon: Zero Dawn a ton, and I have yet to actually see a common thread tying them all together (except possibly Steam006’s memory allocation fix, but I haven’t tried it out myself nor do I plan to).
Different quality settings have different shaders, and so different caches.
Ah I see okay that makes sense then.
Literally unplayable:
Cant figure out Horizon Zero Dawn Memory Allocator Fix 1.1.0 to work with specialk. ALL input is disabled when loading, both keyboard and mouse and joystick
Disable Steam log by making it true.
thank you, it worked!
Glad it worked
Patch 1.02 for Horizon is out, and brings with it two key fixes for crashes that I believe many might have been affected by:
- Fixed an issue where some players would crash during gameplay because of memory incorrectly being overwritten.
- Fixed an issue where some players would crash during gameplay due to a texture unstreaming bug.
There’s also some other fixes introduced, as well as more diagnostic gathering to track down the particulars of some crashes.

Sounds like the memory issue is fixed, some good crash fixes as well and some other fixes in general.
It’s getting better.
Hmm, I think HDR and Anistrophic bug is still an issue by the looks of it. Damn though they fixed memory issues.
I think NVIDIA GPU’s can override anisotropic filtering to x8 or x16 and remove the games pipeline cache file and redo it with the forced setting which will cache shaders with AF forcibly applied as a workaround.
AMD doesn’t do this for Vulkan or DX12 as it turns out so a lot of their overrides don’t apply to these API’s so if setting the game itself to use AF and removing and letting the game do this cache process again doesn’t work it’s down to needing a developer patch for actually verifying that their texture filtering settings work.
EDIT: Forcing AF on all might still introduce errors on elements that might not need filtering until NVIDIA can make a driver profile or flag for the game that maybe helps with this.
Inspector might work to do it manually but could be a lot of testing back and forth unless Death Stranding happens to have one that could be re-purposed as they are both Decima Engine.
Hmm So AMD anisotropic Filter doesn’t actually Override the textures. Huh, when I used that new dxcompiler.dll file update it seemed to fix the anisotropic in the game. Not 100% sure though. Might have to redo the compiler file though. Hmm.
So I tried the latest DX Compiler dll file in that one post. Interesting results in Shader Compilation process I managed to reach 16GB of Memory in the game during that process. lol.
is the only indication of SpecialK is working is the sound you get when you Hold CTRL+SHIFT+T?
Also, where is a list of what the mod does for the game?
Look thru this thread and you will find settings you need to tweak in order to make it work properly.
438 comments? Shouldn’t they be in the OP post if not already?
